problem with starting aquamacs : No fonts match -*-monaco... |

Hi, I have a Mac Book Pro since 2 years now (Mac OS X 10.4.11).
I have been using aquamacs happily all this time.
Since yesterday aquamacs is no longer working, and issues the following
message before exiting:
No fonts match `-*-monaco-*-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-mac-roman'
I understand that it is complaining about not finding the font to be used for
displaying text, but how could this font have suddenly disappeared or been
corrupted? Yet the monaco font seems to still exist within the fonts used by
X11, but maybe aquamacs does not take its fonts from the same place?
Searching through google, I did see a number of people having a similar
problem, but they don't seem to have a solution.
I will be very grateful to anyone who can give me a clue!
Best regards,
François Thomasset
