[Help-gsl] make check error with Mingw/MSYS

I've been trying to build GSL 1.5 via MinGw/MSYS so that my Windows
install and Linux install both use the same version of GSL. The library
seems to configure and build OK, but then fails the histogram test when I
run "make check". The relevant output from make check is:

make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5/cdf'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5/cdf'
Making check in doc
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5/doc'
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `check'.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5/doc'
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5'
make test_gsl_histogram.sh
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5'
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `test_gsl_histogram.sh'.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5'
make check-TESTS
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/mdc/gsl-1.5'
test.exp.1.tmp test.obs.1.tmp differ: char 6, line 1
FAIL: test_gsl_histogram.sh

I am using the latest "current" versions of MinGW(3.1.0) which config.log
reports as "gcc.exe (GCC) 3.2.3 (mingw special 20030504-1)", and MSYS
1.0.10. All are installed in their default directories with the default
configuration.

Any idea where to look for the cause of this error? I've tried disabling
shared libraries in configure, but that has not helped. Is there another
build option to try turning on or off?

Thanks,
Matt
