Thanks Mr. Gough. I agreed with you. Yup. I found out there were some memory corruption earlier in the program.

Those sorts of problems are generally caused by memory corruption
earlier in the program.  Try a debugging malloc, such as "Electric
Fence" which is available under the GNU GPL.
