Hi Andrew,
i am not the right person but i would be clever for GSL to add a sections
"How to replace NRiC Code". Just some glue to create a drop-in replacement.

Just a place to store that code, i am sure that will help people and help them
to release more code as GPL.

Walter, and all,

This is indeed a common problem. The GSL fitting functions should be very
capable in replacing the NR fitting code. It may not be "drop-in", because the
interfaces are different, but it should be relatively quick to adapt
one for the
other. Although I don't know about "matrix deconvolution" per se, I'm pretty
sure that NR matrix manipulations are not particularly magical either.

Hello list,
we plan to release our program to analyze gamma spectra as GPL.
Unfortunately
there are two Numerical Recipies codes that are marquardt fitting and
matrix deconvolution. (Problem: see here http://www.nr.com/licenses/)
Before we start to replace these functions i would like to know: Are there
any drop-in replacements ?

I am asking here because i can imagine that this is a bit common problem.

i am not the principal author but if you need more details i can give you
more
 informations.
