-bash: dpkg-reconfigure: command not found

Moreover I'm not able to start x.
The italian guide to the configuration of Debian GNU/HURD for the installation of X
says to check if "echo $TERM" prints "hurd" and if /dev/cons/kbd and /dev/cons/mouse do exist.
In my case "echo $TERM" prints "mach-gnu-color" and the "cons" directory does not exist.
Thank you for your help!

The problem now is that I'm not able to run dpkg-reconfigure
to change the keyboard mapping and to install X.Org.
Which error message are you getting?
