    The problem is that there is a link "(dir)" to go to
    "../index.html#dir", and this file isn't generated by makeinfo, so
    it doesn't exists.

I've never thought much about what to do with the (dir) entry in HTML
output.  But certainly makeinfo cannot create it.  You have to create
it.  Or else you can postprocess the html to get rid of the bad link.
Sorry.

I expect the next release will have more ways to control what happens.
