It is quite easy to do it in C, but I think it is not worth it, since
you can easiely circumvent it anyway (and the latter is true even more
for C++, despite that it offers this feature directly). Just add a
comment saying it is private and should not be used by others. And if
somebody has a reason to use it anyway (like, for debugging purposes
or whatever) let them do it.
