Yes, meanwhile the secret has been solved: The main thing is to link
CVS with the object file BINMODE.OBJ which comes with Microsoft Visual
C++. The message which appears with the --version option really seems
to be a source change, unfortunately we did not keep the CVS sources
under version control ;-)
