login error with pserver on Windows 98

Hi,

I've been using the 'rsh' connection method with CVS from Linux, Windows 98, and Windows NT clients successfully for quite some time.  Now I want to make my CVS server more secure by switching to 'pserver' mode.

I added the information necessary for pserver mode to the "inetd.conf" file as described in the Cedarqvist manual, and can now successfully login to the CVS server from both Linux and NT machines.

Okay?  So far, so good.

However...

When I try to login to the CVS server from a Windows 98 machine, I get the error message,

(Logging in to address@hidden)
CVS.EXE [login aborted]: could not find out home directory

Here's the command I've been using (on all clients):

cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/vol/cvs login

Any ideas?

- Dennis
