Importing both binary and text files at once

Hi Folks

How can I import a directory sturcture with both binary and text files,
I have tried

cvs import -m "my new Project" newProject tony base

in a directory structure which includes both text and binary files and
it doesnt import any of the binary files.  What do I need to do to
import these?
