If u had the write access to the file and if it tells "Buffer is read only"
means some one may set the watch option for that file in the repository. It
can be checked by using the command
   cvs watchers
If the watch option is set means you can use the command
   cvs edit filename
then the file will have the write access and you can edit the file.

Subject: Bug "Buffer is read-only"

Hi,

I am using emacs 20.7.1 with CVS 1.11 on Linux system.

I often have troubles with emacs not able to edit a file from
my local CVS repository. It tells "Buffer is read-only"

I have write access on the file ( I can edit it with jed) though.

Comitting the file will solve the problem.

Is emacs doing some kind of locking on CVS files ?
