For a slight variant, see my post of 20-Feb-2001, with the
subject "One working copy part of two repositories?"

Yes. What if someone else committed changes at A while you were
hacking away over at B? (If nobody did so, the merge will be
trivial.)

My variant saves you having to import (at the expense of some
other commands), but doesn't save you having to merge -- that
part you just can't get around.

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not
necessarily a good idea.
