Might there be a "cvs watch" set on the files that are checked
out read-only? I don't know offhand how to tell without looking
at the repository. Try "cvs watch off <filename>" on one of the
files that get checked out read-only and on one of the other
ones and see if there's a difference in output. (From here,
right now, I'd rather not experiment on my repository to find out.)
