Count the lines, this will be the difference in size.  Visit the
list's archive as well as thoroughly look at the program's
accompanying doc and make sure you understand the line end thingy
which is handled in completely different ways on every platform.
Plus how this is treated by the different clients and access
methods.  Read on about the "binary" flags and how they can solve
or worsen your problem.

Since you neither specify which OS you run on nor the CVS
version(s) you use nor the method you acces the repo with there's
not much more help you can get ...
