As a follow-up - I solved the problem by deleting the WinCVS branch in the
Windows Registry. There were some obsolete settings that the original
uninstall did not remove. After deleting the WinCVS settings from the
registry and restarting Windows - WinCVS was back to normal.

Subject: WinCVS reports unmodified files are modified

I've run into a problem with WinCVS which I wonder if anyone else has seen
and had to deal with.

When I check out a fresh copy of the source module, various files are
reported by WinCVS as being modified, even though they are not. This is
occurring in WinCVS 1.2 and in WinCVS 1.1 beta 15.

Does anyone know how WinCVS determines that a local file is modified? It
must be doing some sort of comparison with the repository server - or maybe
there is some sort of cached file on the Windows side that holds a log of
touched files which is maybe out of sync - but currently all diffs report
that there are no changes between my working copy of the files and the
repository.

Any ideas,

TIA,

Chris
