Not necessarily.  On my box I have "$" regardless of whether I'm using
sh, csh or ksh.  What it comes down to it what you've all got set up in
your environment, like Dan stated.

Tell you what, why don't you just do a PRINTENV and send it to the
list.  Along with a list of the aliases on your system and a ls -l of
/usr/bin and /usr/local/bin.

Heck, send your .profile along.  And your hostname, username & password.

I'll be happy to sort it out then.
