I think that upgrading the server is sufficient, but there have been
loads of bug fixes since 1.10, so I'd suggest upgrading the clients,
too.  That said, we've been very careful to keep the client/server
protocol compatible so that any client works with any server, you just
can't use new features that only one understands.
