a question from beginner

Hello there,

I am really new to CVS, just installed it, set up environment, created
a repository, imported sources into it, and performed some other basic
operations. CVS looks like a really cool thing, but I met a problem
with "commit" command, which I could not solve, and found no solution
reading all the documentations I found on cvshome.org.

The problem is:
# cvs commit advertise.php3
cvs [commit aborted]: cannot commit files as 'root'

I am not sure what I should do... Should I be logged in as other
user? I tried, but the same command results in a "permission denied"
error. Please help me.
