"could not fild desired version" - Latest revision was deleted.

Hello.  For some reason, my CVS archive was reverted to an earler version.
(I think a backup was restored after a disk problem.)  That means that I
locally have the "latest" revision of a file foo.bar such as 1.3.  But the CVS 
archive
only has up to version 1.2.  When I try to do a commit or update, I get the 
error:

  cvs [server aborted]: could not find desired version 1.3 in 
/home/jefft/cvsroot/home/foo.bar,v

How can I re-synch after the CVS archive no longer has the revision that my
local CVS/Entries file says it should have?
