Applying Noel Yap's "edit -c" patch to CVS-1.11.1p1

Has anyone applied Noel Yap's "edit -c" patch (also known as
"reservations.diff") to CVS-1.11.1p1? This is the patch that allows reserved
checkouts (user locking) of files using the "cvs edit -c file" format (a
nicer form of cvs admin -l file).

I've contacted Noel, but he hasn't supported this patch since CVS-1.11, and
I've heard that the newer version
of CVS has changed a fair bit since then, particularly in the edit.c and
commit.c areas. (It may work, we just haven't had a chance to try the patch
agains CVS-1.11.1p1 yet, and was hoping to hear good news before trying.)
