Did you setup the entry in /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/services file properly?. By default, the port 2401 will be used by writesrv service in AIX systems. Just disable writesrv service and enable it for cvspserver.

I am trying to set up a CVS Repository in PSERVER mode in   AIX 4.3 on IBM's RS6000. I have problem in logging in.
It is telling that authorization failed. I think, i am giving wrong entry in CVSROOT\passwd file. I  would like to know, how
to set this passwd file properly. Thank you.
