What's "Checkout protocol error: Duplicate Mod_time"?

Hello,

As the subject says, I want to know the meaning of that error message.

We're getting the message with only a few (binary stored) files, and
only in some of the modules stored in the repository; the files in
question, produced by the checkout, are complete and w/o error, but
you can't execute update on them or other operation as the result is
"... no information about that file in the repository".

There is an easy fix: remove the module from the repository and import
it again, the error then disapears.  But I would like to avoid the
error altogether.

Any hints or comments are welcome.
