newbie help with conversion from VSS

I'm a newbie to the CVS world and apologize if this is a stupid question.

We have a number of websites that are developed and maintained in-house. Up
until now this has been a project for three or four developers, all on
Windows 2000 machines. We have used Visual Source Safe 6.0 for version
control.

Management wants to add another member to the group with access to the web
pages. This person would not be a developer, but would only change content.
However, due to our setup, they would still need to check files out to work
on them, and check them back in to make the changes live. The kicker is
that this person is in Creative Services and needs to use a Macintosh
(running OS X 10.1.5) for their other duties within the company. Budgetary
restraints preclude giving her another machine just for Visual Source Safe.

After extensive searches I have been unable to find a Mac client for Visual
Source Safe and I am toying with the idea of replacing it with CVS. I have
found a CVS server that will run on the web server (cvsnt), and cvs clients
for both Windows (wincvs) and Mac.

Is CVS a reasonable solution to this problem? Are there any issues I will
have or advice you can give me about migrating from VSS to CVS?
