user unknown to this system in Windows2000 when I commit

Hello,

I tried to implement CVS on my machine under Windows2000.
Everything works fine, but when I commit, I get the error:

user unknown to this system 
(or something similar, it was some time ago, before I found this
mailing list).

I just use the command line with cvs.exe from version 1.11.2

Does anybody know of this problem and how to overcome it?
(I like to use cvs from ant now for java development).
