Thanks for all your replys. As it turned out, what is happening is that
when cvs substitues the $Log$ it does that in unix style. This makes
my emacs think it's a unix file and display ^M at the end of all other
lines. So I could work around it by removing all ^M by hand and let
emacs treat them as unix files.
