Sorry for the follow-up to my own posting, but I just forgot to mention that of
course I used the spec file that is created by configure / make from cvs.spec.in
included in the cvs 1.11.2 source code distribution.

Maybe there is one of the original writers of this cvs.spec.in out there who
could give me a hint?
