If you're on Unix, just apply patch (man patch for
more info).  If not, I believe gnu has an open source
version of patch somewhere.

Also, I would suggest going to SourceForge/RCVS to
download the latest version of the patch (I believe
it's now called advisory locks).  SourceForge will
also have more complete instructions (eg exactly which
version of CVS to apply the patch to).

CVS maintainers, I thought this patch was supposed to
have been adopted into CVS.  I believe tests and docs
are now part of the patch.  Is there something else
