You could try to set up rsync between your boxes; that's what I have on 
my site. Cron runs the sync once an hour, and if anything bad was to 
come to the main server I can always switch IP on the backup one and 
that would give the developers a minimal downtime.

I think I have read about similar setups, and also ones using something 
called CVSup of which I know nothing.
