cvs status and Repository revision

We are using CVS 1.11.1p1 in a Solaris 2.8 environment
and with pserver.
I have noticed that the "cvs status" command on various
clients for the Repository revision value, does not show
the latest checked in revision. This even days after the
checkin has taken place.
Does anybody know why this occurs? It's true for some
clients but not for others.
