What do you mean by "the file itself"?  From the CVS point of view,
that's the ,v file, and any other files will be created by CVS itself
from the ,v file.  

If you look at the ,v file, one of the things you will see is a
complete listing of the original file as it exists at the head of
the trunk.  That part changed when you committed your change, and
in addition some log information was added and a small diff section
so that CVS can recreate the old version by applying changes to the
new.
