Yes I have installed 1.11.5 and is configured well on Suse linux  7.0. 
I was trying the same with the RH and default it has is CVS 1.10.8. I will
do the same on this too....infact with the CVS 1.11.6
Query .... The updated manuals can be found in the package of CVS 1.11.6
itself or somewhere else ?

CVS 1.10.8 is pretty old, I suggest you upgrade to one of the current
releases (1.11.6 is stable, 1.12.1 is experimental) that you can find at  You'll also find updated manuals that have setup
instructions for xinetd (which is what you have) in addition to inetd.
