tkCVS essentially shows this picture (also drawn by you).

Even though they're equivalent (I understand!) the first picture
will sum up the "1000 words" to them.

Yep, I got that part. I was trying to provide you with some educational
tools :-)

I wasn't sure if they'd help. I'll see if I can think of anything

Can you post a screen shot of the kind of branching they expect to see
(or
email it to me directly if you don't want to post it publicly)?
