I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.

The format is:

 :<access method>:<login name>@<hostname>:<path>

So, in the above example, the following holds true:

access method = pserver
login name    = anonymous
host          = cvs.sourceforge.net
path          = /cvsroot/freedos
