I am beginning to think the best thing to do, would be to tell them to read
the news group and ignore the message on the site.

It looks like those who could/would update the site are themselves having
trouble doing it.

For fun I tracked most of the related messages in the list below, but
unfortunately like you I do not see anything from those I would generally
trust saying "we're all fixed and all better now" at best there are the "We're
up with ssh access methods".
So, Derek N Larry what's the probability we're all better now, or the current
definition of better.:)
