help with export and dates

I am trying to export only a specific tag and would like a way to confirm if
any changes have been made, to the files with that tag, prior to exporting.

currently I just do a complete export of a specific tag and it works, but as
the number of files grows this is taking more and more time.

any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
