Editing Root

Hello all,

A colleague of mine has a CVS tree which he burned onto a CD and gave to me.
Now I'm responsible for this source tree.

I can do nothing with this tree as he gave it to me because all of the Root
files contain his user ID. I do not have his password, so I cannot log in as
him.

I have written a shell script to edit every Root file in the tree to change
his user ID to mine. This seems to have worked. I say this based on the fact
that I can issue these commands:

cvs -n -q update
cvs diff

Is there anything wrong with having done this, or am I good to go?

Thanks,
Dave
