Can't check in with CVS 1.11.21 |

Hi,
I'm currently doing tests with various versions of Linux and CVS and I
have a problem.
My setup: fresh install of CVS 1.11.21 on a fresh install of CentOS 4.2
on a virtual machine (VMware Workstation 5). I removed CVS 1.11.17
before installing .21 with rpm -q.
I installed .21 by compiling the source.
I then copied one of the project from $CVSROOT from the real server into
$CVSROOT of the virtual one. The real server is running RH9 and CVS
1.11.11.
We use Eclipse do to our check outs.
I always get a "connection refused" message when I try to access CVS
with pserver even if port 2401 is open. I have to use extssh to connect
to CVS.
I can do a check out just fine. I then created a new file and tried to
check it in and got the following error message: "cvs [commit aborted]:
'user' is not allowed to commit files".
I then created a cvs group and made it the owner of $CVSROOT and added
the user in question to that group. Still didn't work.
Then I noticed on the real server that there was a passwd file in
$CVSROOT/CVSROOT and that it was missing on the virtual machine. I
created one and added the user in it. Still don't work.
Is there something I'm not doing correctly?
Thanks for the help.
Simon
