The important thing is, when you 'cvs checkout -r branch_tag' in a fresh
checkout, do you get the correct file? If so, then don't worry about the
exact revision numbers. For the most part, they should be considered
magic numbers with no meaning to mere mortals like you and I.

Wouldn't hurt. I generally recommend tagging everything before and after
doing any significant commits.
