Migrating CVS setup

Hi,

 we are in the process of migrating our CVS 1.12.7 setup from RH
2.4.21-9 to another server in another network.  The new server will run
Redhat 3 or Redhat 4.

We are also wondering if we should install a later version of CVS since
the existing installation is a couple of years old.  Anyone did this
kind of migration?  Any input on how to go about this - what to do/not
do are greatly appreciated.
