Question regarding the merging of branches

Hello all,

I have conducted many branch merges in the past, but only using TAGS.  I
would like to know if using a date instead of a TAG will pick up all the
files changed on that date only or pickup all the files from that date
forward.  I'm hoping that the answer is from that date forward but I am
not sure.

Once the target branch has been checked out I would do an update using a
command like:
cvs update -k k -d -jBRANCH-TAG:2006-9-25)
