   Working revision:
   Repository revision: 1.1
   Sticky Tag: (none)
   Sticky Date: (none)
   Sticky Options: (none)

cvs [update aborted]: cannot create
.#debug.log. for copying: Permission denied

debug.log should be in logs/debug.log, at this point i
chowned the logs dir(as it is www-data owned). doing
cvs update again:

cvs update: cannot change mode of file debug.log:
Operation not permitted
RCS file:
retrieving revision
retrieving revision 1.1
Merging differences between and 1.1 into
cvs [update aborted]: cannot create debug.log for
copying: Permission denied

then i chowned the debug.log.

then rm, cvs rm, cvs commit succeeded..

i guess the permission is giving me all the problems.

now, how well does cvs handle the different ownership

thanks for your help. Larry
