I should have been more specific. Moving the files was not my main
concern but rather that there may be paths wired into the respository
that would be a problem in another environment were the file/directory
structure was not identical.  At first blush one might consider that
setting CVSROOT would take care of any issues but was not certainn and
hoping that someone might have done what I was considering.

If tarring and melting works for other files on the file systems in
question, then that's all you need to do for CVS.
