James,

Are you using CVS or CVSNT?  If you are using CVSNT (free/GPL just like CVS but with added features like audit and changesets) please contact the CVSNT newsgroup.
http://www.cvsnt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/cvsnt
or
news://news.cvsnt.org/support.cvsnt
This is a very common problem if you are running CVSNT server on windows with large RCS files, it is a bug in the MS C runtime library, there are workarounds though.

Regards,

Subject: Memory error while committing...

We have a sizable Word Document in a directory that we're try to remove - each time I delete the file and try to commit it I get the following error:

commit -m "Deleting file permanently for R" meeting/minutes/Automated eSD Deployment Toolkit (ADT) Detail Design - Web App Component v1.1.doc
Removing meeting/minutes/Automated eSD Deployment Toolkit (ADT) Detail Design - Web App Component v1.1.doc;
cvs [commit aborted]: out of memory; can not reallocate 33894405 bytes

How do we get around this memory allocation error?

THanks,
James
