I removed the accounts/finance/Salary//Pramod/ folder from the
repository and ran the same command again
cvs -t checkout module-name

U accounts/finance/Salary/Keihi/Pavan/PavanAgrawal_200205.xls
-> rename(.new.PavanAgrawal_200205.xls,PavanAgrawal_200205.xls)
-> chmod(PavanAgrawal_200205.xls,100666)
-> chmod(PavanAgrawal_200205.xls,100444)
-> Register(PavanAgrawal_200205.xls, 1.1.1.1, Wed Jun 12 13:23:42 2002,
-kb,  )
S-> Lock_Cleanup()
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Tag)
-> unlink(CVS/Tag)
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Entries.Log)
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Entries.Log)
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Entries.Log)
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Entries.Log)
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink_file(CVS/Entries.Log)
-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
-> unlink(CVS/Entries.Log)

*****CVS exited normally with code 1*****

But im getting the same error again.

But I also noticed the log messages at the end starting with S->
It seems that there is some error concerning the Entries.Log file. The
cvs server fails after trying 4-5 times.
Unfortunately Im not able to understand it completely.
