Thanks for your reply.
I agree my English isn't that good so I might have not made myself clear.
Each CVS server will be in the intranet of each company without any
connection to the "outside" world.
That's why we just can't "share" repositories.

Luis Martins,

The problem is that part of the development will still be done in the "old" company which means that, for some time, we will have people developing in
same objects in diferrent CVS servers.
CVS was originally designed to run over the wide area networks available
20 years ago. You will find that you can just connect to the "new" server
from the "old" company over a WAN/Internet and it will work fine.

All this to ask one "simple" question, is it possible to synchronize repositories from diferrent CVS servers? Any way to replicate all changes made in certain server into another (with same repository structure)?
This is not necessary and is complex to setup. CVSNT 2.5.04 (GPL/Free,
runs on Unix/Linux/Windows etc) has this inbuilt, or you can use things
like cvsup - however it is unnecessary. CVS is designed to be used over a
WAN - just use it how it was designed to be used and it will work fine. A
single CVS sandbox can even contain directories from different

How about treating one of them as a periodic third-party source[1]?

I suggest getting some GOOD backups first.
Then WITTING the procedure you will use for going back and forth between the servers (this could be a bit sanity trying if you don't think it out ahead, plus if you can get the lawyers to approve it, it MIGHT not be YOUR bum on the line for transferring copyrighted/patented material between the companies [IANAL] ). After that get yourself a good pair of comfortable sneakers because you are the sneaker net. :)

[IANAL] I Am Not A lawyer and your company ones would serve you/the company better.
