Question on CVS - Would like to overwrite instead of merge

We have all of our releases on the main CVS branch. Developments
branches are merged into one "staging" branch. The staging branch is the
final pre-production version of the code. After this code is validated,
we would like to copy, not merge the tip of this branch onto the main
branch. Is there a way to do this?
