history file too large

Hello all,

It looks like our history file has exceeded the 2 Gig limit on out
filesystem.  I have changed to mount to allow for large files but the
problem still exists.  Is there a way to purge the history file, which I
really don't want to do, or is there another solution to correct this
problem?

We are using pserver, does the server need to be restarted to to pick up
the allowable large file change?
