It looks like Ivan is using an 'wrapper' around CVS called cvsd (new to
me though it appears to have been around for 2 years) which seems to
backport the chroot jail stuff and repository aliasing from CVSNT for
use with CVS.
So the options as I see them are:
1) ask the cvsd people
2) do not use cvsd and use 'vanialla' CVS
3) use CVSNT (on linux)
