CVS: remove empty dir that never had files |

When I added a new top level directory to the repository, I accidentally
created a double path, e.g. mydir/mydir instead of just mydir at the top of
the repository tree. I tried to do the normal cvs delete or the directory,
but since it's empty it doesn't do anything.
since I never had files in it and don't need any history or archived files from
it, how can I remove it for good?
Thx
