You don't need the server, all you need is a local standalone CVS: You can set
$CVSROOT to your repository and either checkout or export the files. You can
also read the repository files with RCS.

I have CVS server stored repository with filename.<file extension>,v
Unfortunately I don't have the server installed
Please help me out in reading the file and deleting the extension ,v and
version history from each file.
